The Window

Poetry

Blue or grey?

What color are they?

It all depends on the situation,

With the sun in view, boom! A brilliant blue!

In a somber mood, no more blue only grey.

Why do they change hues so frequently?

Well, it is simple really;

They have little to no melanin,

Which transforms the natural brown,

to something new, at first called blue.

All forms change color, if only minutely.

Yes, even the natural brown, may lighten or darken.

No two pairs look the same, that’s part of their charm.

Oh the beauty of the eyes, a portal to within;

Beyond the facade, beyond who we pretend we are.

The blue show the form within the best,

Allowing the soul to shine through,

And give those who look a breathtaking view!

  1. Like the idea of a “portal within” I’m also entranced trying to figure out what this picture is 🤔
